Barry finishes up a 2-part series about gun violence and gun control. The focus, as always is a way to get at a thoughtful and measured conversation, where we hear concerns from the other side, and come up with compromises that make things better, and hopefully make us better in the process.

Thanks, Zach! It should be coming through in a few minutes. This is the second time you have assisted me and I appreciate it! 🙂
Thanks!
There seems to be a fact problem here. 1. Only FFL holders are venders at gun shows. There are no venders that do not do the background check at the gun show. 2. What is called a gunshow loophole is to prevent a parent from giving a gun to a child. It is true that an individual is not required to do a background check to sell a gun they own to another person that they do not know and so this can happen at a gun show or anywhere else. This is really rare. No gun owner wants to sell a gun that has their name attached to it to a person not legally allowed to buy a gun.
I know much less about that loophole than you do, Jay. Thanks for the clarification. I suppose the fact that an “individual is not required to do a background check to sell a gun they own to another person they do not know” may be the issue of concern. I do not know how rare that is. But as I said, I have little experience in that world, and am confident you know more about it than I do. Thanks for the clarification.
